Winter fashion in Mauritius

It is the month of May, third week and the water that flows through the water tap is beginning to become icy cold. The wind outside the house is blowing cold and strong. Down in Ushuai'a in American continent it is autumn. When I say that in my place in May blows the cold wind of winter, people look at me, that makes me explain that this place is in the southern hemisphere of the globe where seasons and climate go the contrary to Europe and America. Whenever you video call your friend in America you will see them wearing light clothing, even go bare chest, while you will be seen all bundled up on layers. Everything will look contrary, from food and drinks till clothes.

Speaking about cloths or fashion that this place have in store for this winter, though the winter here is more like autumn and constant till the following spring,  you may see long pants and pantalon and leggings are out, paired with long sleeves shirts and blouses of a bit thicker materials and longer dresses. You may also see some sweaters worn on  the higher part of the island. like Curepipe and High Plateau. Mauritius is said to be a rainbow island, so that goes also for the color of the fashion. Never omit the rainbow color.

This island, so small as she is, she never wants to lag behind in fashion, especially fashion for the young next generation. Tina's voyage

Tina's flight took off on time, to a destination planned, that is Kuala Lumpur. As it was planned she intended to stay there for a couple of days, since she had business in her mind. She made a contact a few days before her departure with a certain businesswoman named Anisah who was dealing in export and import.

After she checked out from the airport, she found Anisah was waiting for her in the arrival lounge. She did not expected it. Anisah took her to a hotel she booked. Then Anisah arranged that Tina should dine on time in the evening, because she was to take Tina to see Kuala Lumpur by night. The following morning, they met again to pay a visit to a garments factory.

Two days in Malaysia was satisfactory, then it was time for Tina to board on another airplane, destination Mumbai, India to meet Chandni as scheduled.

Costume dresses around the world - Angola

Angola, a country in Africa which has become a member of petroleum exporter country is the seventh largest country in Africa. A country with Portuguese influence due to colonization. And naturally her African culture is also somehow mixed with Portuguese. As well as the culture, Angola's world of fashion is keeping up with international fashion and trends by recently participating in a showcasing of pan-African designers in Africa Fashion International event in Johannesburg.

Advanced Angola maybe in world of fashion, but her colorful traditional costumes somehow are well preserved.

Momentum - a movie

This movie starred by Morgan Hitman, James Purefoy and beautiful Olga Kurylenko. They say "Momentum" was a flop, but here it is not  the movie which is going to be talked about but Olga. Despite of her role beside Daniel Craig in "Quantum of Solace" still she could not become as popular as Meryl Streep. Moreover with Angelina Jolie. Many wondered why. She is beautiful, she acted well. She was in "Hitman", "Oblivion" with Tom Cruise or was it? In "Momentum" she was not bad at all. Playing careless "bravada", clever and yet stupid. Anyway, a flop it was but quite enjoyable.
And Olga did well.

Andorran Ladies

Andorran ladies are advanced. They have also taken parts in politics. They are beautiful with a mix of Spanish, Slavic and French feature and are also sports lovers.
Yet, so far, they are American fashion oriented fashion lovers, with Marc Jacobs, one of American best designers, who once upon a time designed for Louis Vuitton, giving what people say the biggest influence.
To those who love beauty, fashion and typical Mediterranean morena, if not meztissa air, Andorra is the right place. :)

A topic between Tina and Mirabelle

It was another Sunday. But this Sunday, after breakfast Tina's Internet Messenger rang, a video-call. It was Mirabelle. They exchanged greetings and they started talking about the things that interested them. Mirabelle asked Tina if she knew anything about myths. Tina said she read some about the Greeks' or the Romans' or some about the Indians'. And Mirabelle mentioned about Psyche, Echo and Athena. Tina asked if Mirabelle thought, by the hazard, that somehow those characters really existed in the spirit realm. Laughingly Mirabelle commented that no one would really know but somehow the myths would remain alive to eternity.

Then they talk about Tina's plan of spending Christmas and New Year in Mirabelle's island of Mauritius. Tina said she contacted Chandni already and told her about the change of plan, it was a good thing, Chandni agreed. Chandni quoted "curiosity kills the cat", since she was curious to know about that particular small island, so small that  could hardly  be noticed in the world map. Mirabelle sneered. Mirabelle offered a nice bungalow for them. And also a transportation to take them on trips around the island. Mirabelle mentioned about places they could go or do. Tina seemed to be very interested and they continued chatting, talking about nonsense for a while and before they hung-up, Mirabelle told Tina not to think too much of what kind of dress she should bring. Tina laughed and said that she and Chandni would come with empty suitcases.

Mirabelle and Tina said "au revoir" to each other added with "bizous-bizous" and hung-up. Tina sighed and whispered "funny".

Planning for a picnic

On a Sunday like that day, people either stay home or spend their leisure time somewhere else. That Sunday, Tina was visited by all her friends including the business consultant. Chris, Mike and Richard, each brought with him a snack to share. Edward brought some drinks.

They sat in the salon and made some plans for  a picnic or a sort of an outing by the end of the year or the beginning of the following year before everyone resumed to work. Mike suggested a dinner in open air on a camping site. Richard suggested a weekend in a natural park.

While they were talking, Tina's computer's messenger rang, it was from Mauritius. Mirabelle  appeared on the screen. Tina introduced Mirabelle to her friends. Then Tina mentioned about what they were doing. Mirabelle jokingly suggested her island as their end of  year destination, but Tina regretfully refused because she was expecting Chandni. She told Mirabelle that she had a contact in India with whom she spent the Divali festival that year, and she had invited her Indian friend to spend the end of year festivity in Tina's place. Like jet-sets, so these people thought jet-sets. Mirabelle asked Tina to change her plan, to ask Chandni to join her and company at Mirabelle's island, that would be fun. Chris, Mike and Richard including Edward looked at each other and said to Tina that it would be a very good idea. A great adventure while closing the year. Tina agreed of the idea and said to Mirabelle she'd talked it over with her friends and let her know soonest.

While they were talking, moving around Tina's salon, Mike bumped into Chris and spilled his drink on Chris's beautiful Sunday dress. Chris went red....! Of rage or ...?

Yves Saint Laurent - a fashion designer

Everybody knows this name of a fashion house. One of the most famous and adored among the fashion houses. The founder, Yves Saint Laurent, who was also a fashion designer, was born in Algeria on a sacred date of the 1st of August, 1936, according to Wikipedia, designed various kind of styles. From women's gowns, bags, men's outfits till their accessories and always win a large size of place in the market.

This year's trend is more going to the ranches of Texas and Mexico. Like we used to see in some cowboys' movies in the 60's. The stetson and the sombreros. Imagine them beside the horses or cows.

Boys fashion throughout the years

There was a girl, there was a boy, way back so many years ago. Girls wore skirts, Boys wore pants.  And the topic of girls has been spoken or written too many times and the boys seemed to be left out. Let us go back in time, let us say in 1960's. In those days, the Beatles trends were so popular that almost boys around the world copied their style. Let us see how it was...

This style came as waistband placed a little bit lower than the style in the 60's and the bottom is larger. Though it did not look exactly like a bell and yet they were called bell-bottomed. And in the mid 70's, the bell-bottom were enlarged even larger until they were mistakenly called the baggy-pants

Nowadays, the way the boys of this era dress-up is very negligent and care-free. They look funny in the eyes of the oldies. But as time goes by, era by era, changes happen and they are inevitable. As we wonder maybe in the next ten years, bell-bottom pants may come back with different lines more care-free than before.

Weekend excitement

People often say "Thank God, it's Friday", so this Friday our friend and her friends were planning to have an exciting weekend. They searched in the Internet something or some places they could do or go to during this end of the week. Tina with her laptop, Chris with her Android and with them are other friends, Mike and Richard. Two young groomers who love to dress to kill to entice pretty girls.

Chris suggested an adventure in a natural park, the boys supported her, but Tina said they don't have enough equipment for such a pastime. Then Tina suggested that they should go and stroll some shops or arcade and then have some snacks in a corner for this week. They could go on an adventure in peak summer. During peak summer, the forest would be good, for there would be trees and shades.

Suddenly Tina saw something quite interesting in the Internet, it is in Las Vegas. No, Tina wasn't thinking of casino but this... An American Girl Grand Opening at Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas. She showed her friends and they all gathered by her in front of the laptop. An event! An opening of a store and girls would receive gifts!!! Gosh, it is tomorrow Saturday the 17 October 2015 and the following day Sunday. Tina said they should not miss this opportunity, and they all decided to go the grand opening of the store.

Tina looked at the calendar, and told herself that time was really running. She looked at the gown she had prepared yesterday, now... what next??? Accessories that was what she needed. Jewelry, hand bag and shoes.

Took out all her jewelry, gold and imitations. Should she wear gold? Or imitation? It did not matter to her. She found several sets of jewelries with stones of the same shade with her hot pink long skirt but paler. She thought they should go well, but this time,  silver or gold..

At last she decided to wear silver with small pastel pink stone. Smiling she continued with choosing her purse and footwear from  among her vast collections and chose

At last, she was happy to see what she had chosen for herself and she'd be ready to attend the wedding reception which was coming in the following day. All she had to do was to call for a hired limousine. :D 

What will go with this?

Tina is an Indonesian living in Jakarta. Just a simple girl who likes dressing up and go in style. One day she received an invitation to a wedding reception. And, bad luck, at that time, she had nothing new in stock and the wedding was only a week away. She ransacked her trunk where she keeps all the left-over clothing materials. Just in the nick of time, when she was about to close the trunk thinking that there wouldn't be anything worth taking out from there, her eyes caught something shiny and sparkling from among the heap of "rubbish". She pulled it out, to her surprised, saying to herself why she had forgotten that thing. A material made of lace pale lemon color with silver thread and pastel pink and lavender "splash". An idea came, she thought she could make a blouse out of it, in fact only that the material could give.

Four whole days passed, in the end she came to complete something like

Now, two days to go till the reception. This time she wondered what kind of a skirt would go with that simple cut blouse. She thought she had to find the skirt from a shop or market. Then went out strolling the shopping arcade.., ha! at last she came to a shop that showed her many color options of the style she fancied..

She saw that eggplant or teal or hot pink color may match with her blouse. After about ten minutes of pondering, she decided to take hot pink color. That would look nice on her Indonesian brown skin under the evening light of the wedding hall. And she was satisfied. :)

 

Michael Kors, a designer

Many have heard about Michael Kors and his creations. He design wardrobe fashion as well as its accessories. In Mauritius, so far, that can be found in the internet by Michael Kors, is only the beautiful and exquisite sunglasses, as for the wardrobe fashion is still rare. It seem that is difficult for the designers from the west to compete in the market with the local designers. Nowadays, the local designers are eager to penetrate the European and American markets. Nevertheless, it is worth the while to see more of Kors' designs

The other day, I surfed for Kors' video in YouTube and found his Spring Summer 2015 Fashion Show , showed sheared floral-printed skirt with matching light t-shirt as well as a baby-collared dress, looked nice to wear in spring. half-balloon cut printed skirts that sway to the rythm of movement of the body of the models. And to my amazement, there are a couple of a "rain-coat look" dresses which
will surely invites smiles and sneers of the lookers. Anyway, one should take life lively, though to some eyes they may look ridiculous but definitely not to those who knows how to appreciate arts. Some of gens style and vogue are also shown there. I must say that Kors' designs are contemporary, the style comes all throughout the era.

I was wondering if really there isn't any of Kors' women fashion dresses in Mauritius, the island where I am. As I have mentioned above, there are only his sunglasses , like..

Ask me to say the common style  worn in Mauritius this season, I would say that they  are tight leggings 

 with matching t-shirt among the practical actives and short, above the knee skirts or dresses, many wear bare-shoulders among the pretty girls and the beautiful women.
