To Mumbai

On board the plane on a long distance between Kuala Lumpur and Mumbai, may bore the passengers. It was a good thing that Tina chose  Airbus with video facilities. On this kind of modern aircraft, they had video-audio equipment that the passengers could either listen to music or watch some movies.

Tina chose to watch video. And she watched a movie from the 70's "Grease" with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as the leading actor and actress.

Next to her seat was a man about late 20's. He had a nice profile, looked serious and she greeted him, introduced herself and the young man mentioned his name being Jeremy. The movie on the screen kept on rolling while Tina and the man beside her engaged themselves in a quite interesting conversation. He said he was in the entertainment business in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Tina was impressed and asked him if he managed a casino or a cabaret hall and he replied that his business was quite vast. In return he asked her about her, and she replied that her business was "needles and pins". Jeremy smiled and spoke about the importance of that work. Tactfully he said that his "can-can" girls would wear nothing if there weren't anybody in the "needles and pins" business, looking at his own outfit and spread his hands. Tina laughed. He spoke about some bars in Las Vegas, casino in hotels and some shows.  Then they exchanged calling-cards like business people habitually do.

Tina's voyage

Tina's flight took off on time, to a destination planned, that is Kuala Lumpur. As it was planned she intended to stay there for a couple of days, since she had business in her mind. She made a contact a few days before her departure with a certain businesswoman named Anisah who was dealing in export and import.

After she checked out from the airport, she found Anisah was waiting for her in the arrival lounge. She did not expected it. Anisah took her to a hotel she booked. Then Anisah arranged that Tina should dine on time in the evening, because she was to take Tina to see Kuala Lumpur by night. The following morning, they met again to pay a visit to a garments factory.

Two days in Malaysia was satisfactory, then it was time for Tina to board on another airplane, destination Mumbai, India to meet Chandni as scheduled.

Surprised Mike

Mike, one of Tina's friends, who was an IT expert, went to pay Tina a visit. When he reached Tina's house he saw quite a number of people where outside by her car. One of them was Tina's father. A very rich and reliable real-estate agent. Mike thought it was a miracle to find Tina's father there, since he was not too sticky to his independent daughter, neither was she to him. More to Mike's astonishment, he saw Richard came out from the house with a suitcase and a hand-bag heading towards the car and put those baggage into the baggage compartment. He rushed and asked who was going where and why. Richard laughed and replied that their girl-friend was leaving for Mauritius for a month-long holiday. Baffled. As Tina showed up by the door, after a hurry greetings and introduction to Tina's father, Mike complained that she did not inform him of her plan. She said she forgot.

Mike mentioned about hearing that Tina had rented a space to open a shop, and he was thinking of offering her his IT services. Tina smiled and said that it was too early to have a computerized billing system in her business, besides she still had to make some negotiations with a future prospective co-tenant. Tina looked at her watch and said she had to start going and she promised to talk about the IT subject after the holiday. They shook hands and kissed each other's cheeks and Mike made Tina promised to video-call him from there. And  also not to forget to bring home some souvenirs.

Tina's new friend

Tina started packing her suitcase. She chose light dresses, because according to Mirabelle the climate would be warm during the last month of the year. Mirabelle explained due to the location of her island is in the southern part of the globe, so when it is winter in America, it is the contrary in the south.  She thought she should bring her backpack also without forgetting her laptop bag. Earlier, she established contact with Hollywood. She came to know a lady who said that she often join in movies shooting as a figurant in musical movies. She had a strange name to Tina's ears, it was Xenny. The owner of the name pronounced it "Zenny" but spelled it began with an X. Xenny tipped her of nice places in Hollywood, and Tina appreciated it. They talked through video-call for a while then Tina carried on with her work.

Making friends with work

One makes friends not only by creating a society. Developing relationships with human being or with animals. In making friends, one gets to know the object of friendship. There are people who see something in somebody, then they get themselves acquainted, their friendship may become closer and deeper, which turn either into best-friends or even lovers. These are common, but there are also people simply take the object superficially and kept at arms length as they call it "buddy-buddy". That is okay. But what about making friends with the work or the job? People look for a job to get sustenance or as a life-support, every one knows that. And they look for a job that they know they can do and they like, this is definitely. People would not be able to perform well if they don't like the work.

And yet some people may be trapped in a such situation  that somehow they are forced to take a work they don't like, it is either because it is not their qualifications or due to unpleasant environment. In this situation inner-battles develop. It is either to be a stayer or leaver. Wise people, seeing the necessities, would make friends with that work, in a sense by learning about the work and even try to develop a kind of sixth sense to be able to visualize the characters of the work. Sound strange it is, but the moment the person succeeded in studying the object, he would find the the work which first he did not like, now has become something easy to deal with. 

This process often happens in a situation when for example a civil engineer graduate and unemployed is forced to help his father in a commodity shop where he smell odors he does not like, for instance the stinging smell of dry hot-chilly mix with the smell of spices in goni sacks, and in the end, he finds it a pleasure to serve buyers. Here we may say that he was able to make friends with a work and that led to making friends with people.

Tina's Christmas and New Year program

After Tina and Edward posted an ads about looking for a co-tenant and preferably someone who could run a coffee and snack shop, she received quite a number of interested candidates. Then she and Edward, after meeting them one by one, had chosen one who according to them could fit in well in the space available to open a coffee and snack shop beside Tina's shop. They showed their future co-tenant the space and made a plan to have a talk about all the legal necessity after New Year since Tina would be out of the country for 30 days during the end of year holiday.

Tina talked again to Mirabelle in Mauritius, informing Mirabelle that on the way to Mauritius, she would  spend two days in Singapore, three days in Malaysia and meet Chandni in Mumbai, and together Tina and Chandni would arrive in Mirabelle's  a week before Christmas. Tina intended to stroll the streets of Mumbai first. Mirabelle was happy to learn she was going to have a wonderful end of year feast that year. Two foreign friends from two different countries there, that would be awesome. Mirabelle promised Tina the best hospitality that she could ever give to her foreign friends. Before they hung-up, Tina made Mirabelle promise to show her the best fashion house in the island.

Job hunting

Richard talked about what he wanted to do, that he already graduated from Tourism and Hotel Management with a Bachelor degree. A problem that he was facing was financial problem. To be able to work abroad, capital was really needed. There should be a solution, which was hunting for a job in his own local environment or in some other cities in his own home country.

He talked this over with his parents. His father owned and ran a palm-oil producing company. His father was crossed when he heard Richard's intention. He said that he was expecting his son to help him in his palm-oil company in one way or another. Richard's choice of choosing Hotel business was already wrong. But Richard gave his father an option that one day his hotel would need his father's oil for the kitchen. Richard explained that before he plunged himself in the hotel and tourism business, he wanted to work abroad to get the experience. Then he asked his father maybe he could help in his palm-oil company to amass money as he needed it to finance his travel abroad. After hours of discussion, his father ordered Richard to meet him in his office in the following morning.

Richard felt relieved, then after dinner, he went to ransacked his wardrobe. He should look smart when meeting his father, because he would sure be meeting his father's colleagues.
